Methyl Hydrogen Silicone Fluid(CAS 63148-57-2), also known as Polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS or MH Fluid), is a versatile organosilicon polymer composed of silicon (Si), hydrogen (H), and methyl (CH₃) groups. It features reactive Si-H bonds, which grant the polymer excellent chemical reactivity and allow it to participate in a wide range of applications.
This product is structurally derived from dimethyl silicone oil, where part of the methyl groups are replaced by hydrogen atoms, forming Si-H bonds. This modification imparts unique properties such as hydrophobicity, film formation, and thermal stability.
Methyl Hydrogen Silicone Fluid is a colorless or pale yellow transparent fluid with no discernible odor. It is non-toxic and exhibits low volatility, making it suitable for various industrial applications. While it is insoluble in water, methanol, glycol, and ethylene glycol ethers, it is miscible with a range of organic solvents such as benzene, dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone, carbon tetrachloride, and kerosene. The product demonstrates moderate thermal resistance—slightly lower than that of dimethyl silicone oil—but offers excellent surface activity due to its low surface tension, enabling superior spreading and wetting on different substrates.
