Methyl vinyl silicone rubber (VMQ) belongs to the polyorganosiloxane elastomers, whose main chain consists of silicon atoms and oxygen atoms connected alternately, with methyl and a small amount of vinyl side chains on the silicon atoms. The vinyl group is introduced to facilitate vulcanization cross-linking and to give elasticity to the rubber.
Vinyl terminated Silicone Rubber: A raw silicone rubber usually Vinyl terminated. The vinyl group at the end gives it higher vulcanization activity and makes it easier to undergo the addition vulcanization reaction, or it can be vulcanized with organic peroxides.
Methyl-terminated Silicone Rubber: Usually a methyl terminated silicone rubber compound. Methyl terminated silicone rubber has relatively low vulcanization activity compared to vinyl terminated, and usually requires a free radical vulcanization system (e.g., organic peroxide) and may be vulcanized at a slightly slower rate.
